Become a Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital part of our mission. Whether you want to help inside the shelter, take a dog out for an afternoon adventure, or open your home as a foster, there are meaningful ways to get involved and support the animals in our care.

Ways to Volunteer

All volunteers, in every role, must complete the New York State Companion Animal Care Standards Training Act before beginning.
You’ll receive a certificate at the end of the course, which must be uploaded with your application.

Sign up to Be a Foster Parent!

Fostering is one of the most impactful ways to volunteer. Whether it’s bottle‑baby kittens, a dog recovering from surgery, or an animal who simply needs a break from kennel stress, foster homes provide the individualized care and quiet environment that shelters often can’t.

By moving these animals into a home, you’re not only giving them a head start on socialization — you’re also freeing up space in the shelter for the next animal in need. Fostering truly saves lives, one home at a time.

We offer foster programs for multiple species. Simply complete the Foster Application for the type of animal you’re interested in helping.
