Volunteer Opportunities:
There are many different ways to volunteer and we understand that for some of you volunteering in the shelter may be difficult. Here is a list and description of some of the ways you can donate your time to our shelter. The link for the volunteer application is:

Morning:
First thing in the morning our kennel staff cleans, feeds and cares for our furry residents. Volunteers can assist during this busy time of the day when there is so much that needs to be done!
*Kennels/Cages need to be cleaned
*Food dishes and litter pans washed
*Set up of new cages
*Wash and fold laundry
Volunteers who are interested in this can start as early as 8:00AM (everyday as well as holidays)

Mid Morning/Afternoon:
This is a busy time for our staff. The residents have all been cleaned, fed and cared for. Now it is time for the shelter doors to open and the phones to ring. Our staff is balancing caring for the animals and working in the office. While we are busy with our daily office duties and potential adopters volunteers help with:
*Spot Cleaning
*Cuddling Kittens and Cats....Socialization is so importiant! With our Cat Colony room this is now easier than ever.
*Taking the dogs to the dog park or participating in our "RUN WITH ROVER PROGRAM' which consists of running, or walking, on a mapped out 1 mile route with one of our canine residents. The dogs love to get out of the kennel and the more socialized they are the more adoptable they become. Our staff will show you how to enter a kennel and get one of our dogs out so there are no escapees. If you would prefer, we would be happy to get a dog for you.
*Brushing our residents - Think of how nice they will look to their potential new family.
*Tuesdays we preform our spay and neuter surgeries. If this is a field you are interested in entering you may assist the surgery staff in getting the animals and helping them recover after.
*Office assistant help with filing, data entry and other office duties
*Pictures are always needed of our residents. If you would like to try your hand at being a photographer bring your camera and snap

Outside of the shelter volunteer opportunities
We understand that for some being in the shelter is too difficult. Here are some ways you can help but not be involved with the animals.
*Foster Parents are needed for puppies, kittens and sometimes a Mom and her babies. Depending on the little ones age, and if Mom is around, this can be easy or VERY labor intensive. Our staff will call and ask if you are available to foster and if you can GREAT, if not we will try again another time. We will also provide food, litter and let you know approximately how long you will be needed.
*Gardener/Yard Work: We are always trying to improve the shelter grounds. If you have a green thumb and do not mind getting dirty, come and show us your talent!
*Handyperson: If you are a hands on person we ALWAYS have a list of things we would like to accomplish! Call the shelter and ask about our projects we are working on.
*Grant Writer: There is money out there but it takes someone who is willing to research and write grants to get it. If you have experience, or would like to give it a try let us know.
*Fundraisers are always needed and constantly in the works. If you are a the "party planning" type take a look at what we have coming up. We can always use help with our events!
*Adoption Events need extra people to help with answering questions and handling the animals. These events are normally off site at different locations during the year.
